Cyrus Dallin’s struggle to give Boston a monument to Paul Revere was a 58-year ordeal with a happy ending. Dallin’s first commission, begun in 1883, became his final accomplishment, in 1940. In the intervening years, he created seven versions of the sculpture which now crowns Boston’s North End.
